This March #AoTATX29 brings you three exciting talks about dwarf satellite galaxies, astrobiology, and galactic archaeology. Andreia Carrillo will introduce us to dwarf satellites, the small galaxies associated with the Milky Way; Danny Krolikowski will tell us about Enceladus, Titan, and how we can learn about astrobiology from them; finally, Director of Dark Matter (aka. Prof. Mike Boylan-Kolchin) will explain how stellar fossils are used to learn about the history of galaxies.
#AoTATX29 will be hosted by our Host Binary Stars, A$AP Rocky Planet (Raquel Martinez) and AstroBoz (Dr. Brandon Bozek)! In addition, #AoTATX28 will feature Astronomy in the News, trivia, and some brand new giveaways. Local artists will also have astronomy related art on display and Fifth Dimension Books community book store will be parked outside. Finally, our own Star Party Queen (Lara Eakins) will have telescopes on hand to look for exciting objects in the night sky (weather permitting)! Join us for a night full of astronomy fun over pints of beer!
As always, AoTATX is FREE and open to all ages! The North Door bar opens at 6pm. The show starts at 7:30pm. Find us on Facebook (Astronomy on Tap ATX) and Twitter (@AoTATX).
Astronomy on Tap ATX is monthly Astronomy talks in the pub in Austin, TX. Held on the third Tuesday of every month at The North Door at 7.30 p.m. Organized by professional astronomers Dr. Brandon Bozek (@astro_boz) and Raquel Martinez (@r_a_martinez14). Each FREE event features accessible, engaging science presentations on topics ranging from planets to black holes to the beginning of the Universe. We have games and prizes to test your new-found knowledge and there is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other astronomers who tag along for the beer.
