After a long day at the hospital, there’s nothing more appreciated than a home-cooked meal. Join COGS to plan a menu and prepare a comforting meal for families with critically ill or injured children.
You are invited to come to the Ronald McDonald House and share your culinary skills with families in need. A kitchen is provided where volunteers will prepare the food.
Here’s what you need to know about becoming a meal provider volunteer:
Planning A Meal:
All meals must be prepared at the Ronald McDonald House or delivered from a restaurant or catering service. The Ronald McDonal House kitchen accommodates up to 15 people (including children) and has cookware, servingware, and utensils needed to prepare the meal. Volunteers decide the menu but well-rounded menus (salad, main dish, vegetables, fruit) are encouraged and dessert is optional.
Lunch meals for 15-20 people will be served at noon.
Serving A Meal:
Meals are served buffet style. Although many families may not be present at the time the food is prepared, all meals are thoroughly enjoyed when families return from the hospital.
Cleaning up after each meal is sincerely appreciated. This includes cleaning and returning all kitchen utensils, wiping down counters, loading the dishwasher and taking out the trash.
