The most magical evening of the year on the Front Porch is soon approaching. On the eve of Easter, we’ll once again convene in the public square (the biergarten at Scholz Garten) for our annual Front Porch Easter Vigil. Featuring a first-rate lineup of local artists– folks like slam poet Chucky Black, songwriter Sam Baker, and dozens of others–and local leaders of numerous faith traditions, the Easter Vigil seeks to bring folks together across their divides to celebrate the magic and mystery of life and death. The evening’s liturgy will feature both traditional and radically innovative elements in order to create a ceremony unlike any other for the greater Austin community to enjoy and cherish, regardless of background or creed. Join us for a truly incredible evening that only comes once a year–all building up to the closing act, Body Rock ATX (RIDERS AGAINST the STORM (RAS) + DJ Chorizo Funk), who will lead our dance party immediately following open table communion with cheese, wine, pretzels, and other Scholz goodies.
The gathering starts promptly at sunset (7:52 PM), and there is no admission fee, although we will ask for a suggested donation of $10 per adult participant.
This year, the Easter Vigil is a joint production of: The Front Porch, St Matt's Austin, All Saints' Episcopal Church, Episcopal Student Center, and Interfaith Action of Central Texas — iACT.
