Think Austin is weird now? Go back 30 years!
«Whoa, That's Weird!» is a free public clip show of Austin Public Access TV shows from the 1980's and 1990's. Back in the days before YouTube, if you wanted to be entertained by wildness and weirdness, you just flipped the TV to channel 10. From banana drag queens, to foul mouthed puppets, to death metal bands, Austin citizens have been creating television since 1973. Come to the Spiderhouse Ballroom on Sunday July 23rd and watch a carefully curated and restored clip show of oddball, off-the-wall Austin history. This event is hosted by the filmmakers of When We Were Live, a feature-length documentary about the heyday of Public Access TV.
Q&A with former producers in attendance after the screening.
All proceeds to benefit the documentary film, When We Were Live. For more information on the film, please visit facebook.com/whenwewerelive/
