Come keep your eye on the sky with us on Monday, August 21, as we take part in a rare event: a total solar eclipse! In our part of the country, we will be able to see a partial eclipse, roughly 65% — 70% of the sun will be obscured by the moon.

The library has purchased 100 solar viewing lenses. Looking directly at the sun, even during an eclipse, can do permanent eye damage. So let us help you to safely view this lunar eclipse with the provided lenses. Cookies and water, courtesy of the library will be available (just inside Bldg. D). Be on the deck viewing between 1 pm and 1:15.

Eclipse Start — 11:41 a.m. and will end at 2:39 p.m. — peak of the eclipse 1:10 p.m. Photo opportunity between 1pm – 1:15pm.

This event is being co-sponsored by the Office of Environmental Stewardship, the Environmental Science and Conservation Program, and the CTX Library.
