The Multicultural Engagement Center (MEC), in partnership with the Counseling & Mental Health Center (CMHC), invites you to our first monthly community gathering of the semester! Last year, CMHC's Diversity Coordinator team started hosting weekly drop-in office hours as well as identity-based discussion groups in multiple spaces on campus. Alongside these services, this year we want to make host an event that fosters multicultural dialogue. In hosting September's Community Gathering, we want to create and provide space for all the student groups we support to learn more about our services/resources, to hold conversations at the intersections of our respective identities, and to build positive relationships between our communities.
Our goal is to host a Community Gathering each month during the fall semester. We want to use this time and space to build an inclusive and diverse community where we're able to have cross cultural conversations, share our lived experiences and stories, discuss current events, and build ways to support one another.
The event starts at 3:30PM. Free pizza, drinks, and cupcakes will be provided (first come, first served). We'll host a short meet-n-greet so attendees can mingle with CMHC's DC team and staff from each center. We'll establish rules of engagement and spend the rest of the evening in conversation with one another. Come and go as you please, and take care of yourself as you need.
