The Long Center and Austin Classical Guitar present an evening with Carlos Piñana, Saturday, February 10 in Dell Hall.
Pasión! Carlos Piñana and his troupe of authentic flamenco masters journey here from southern Spain to bring us a thrilling display of intense rhythm and soulful song. We’re pulling out all of the stops to make this an unforgettable evening at the Long Center. Austin to Andalucia at the speed of sight and sound!
Carlos Piñana belongs to a family of great flamenco tradition—he is the grandson of Antonio Piñana (father), patriarch of the “cantes mineros” and his father is the well-known guitarist Antonio Piñana (son). Carlos lived and breathed flamenco since childhood. His first guitar teacher was his father Antonio Piñana, who contributed from the start to Carlos’ development as a guitarist. Currently Carlos combines his work as a performer with his activity as a professor of Flamenco Guitar at the Music Conservatory of Murcia. He is also the Artistic Director of the Murcia International Guitar Festival.
