It's exactly what it sounds like — we drink beer, sing hymns, and raise money for charity. Whether you sing the hymnal every week or just want to tap into the nostalgia of your youth, all are welcome! There will be no preaching or proselytizing, just a spirited sing-along with your friends and neighbors. This month we will be at Threadgill's south location on Riverside — one of the few remaining chances to enjoy this iconic Austin landmark before their lease is bought out by developers early next year.
This month, we are giving to the Hispanic Federation's hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico, as well as to the Spiritual Transformation Project's work bringing a new spirituality and social justice festival to Austin next Fall. The (optional) cover is $10 (cash) at the door or you can pay by card ahead of time on our Eventbrite page. But we don't ever turn away anyone based on need, so come and sing even if you can't afford to give.
This isn't about the beer, of course, it's about the experience, so if alcohol isn't for you, please feel free to order water/soda/etc instead. It is a family-friendly event, so children are welcome too if parents want to bring them along.
