Update 12/9: Just heard from Santa's elves bringing the reindeer. (1am). Rudy dropped one of his horns in the last few hours! There is not enough time to get another one and make it to our event in a few hours as the North Pole is far away… so we'll have a one horned reindeer there. He's also bringing the dropped horn as an educational piece for your kids to interact with. Just wanted to let y'all know.
The cool thing is — your kids can get to hold a reindeer antler. That will make for a great pic!
Update 11/13: The response has been more than we hoped for!
Here's what we've done:
1. We've extended the hours the reindeer & Santa will be here. They will be here Saturday 12/9 from 8am — 11:30am and Sunday all day from 8am-5pm. — We are also opening an early those days (8am) to try to accomodate more people
2a. In order to help the pictures with Santa go smoother so your kids don't have to wait in line, we're going to «take a number» system like you find at the dmv… (Thanks for the suggestion Emily Kaszczuk!)
2b. We do NOT have an intercom system over the entire property so one person will need to be able to wait down there for their number while the kids go play
2c. Not all cell phone providers work out here, or the person you're calling may not answer, so…
2d. We suggest getting back to Santa earl, because…
2e. Due to the volume we are expecting, we are unable to hold your place in line if you're not there when we call the number.
2f. We expect to be able to do about 25 kids per hour after breaks for Santa. So total for the weekend, we're looking at about 300 kids.
2g. We are unable to gaurentee that your child will get their picture taken with Santa. It will be on a first come first serve ticket basis.
3. We are bringing in as many ponies as we can safely do in the pony ride area.
4. We will be hiring additional entertainers to walk around and entertain the kids (magic, balloon artists, etc)
5. Will will have additional food vendors.
— We're super excited this year to do pictures with Santa & have live reindeer at the farm!
Here's the skinny:
— Santa & reindeer will be here from 1-5. When Santa has to leave to go back to the North pole, he has to go. We will cut off the line before 5.
— We expect it to be busy, so we recommend coming early.
— We are not going to have a professional photographer taking photos with Santa, so please bring your camera/phone with you.
— We are unsure how many reindeer Santa will be bringing — but it will only be 1 or 2. The others need their rest for the busy season!
— The reindeer will be penned up in the area around Santa (not hooked to a his sleigh).
— If enough people mark that they are coming to the event, we will try to start the event earlier in the day if Santa is available.
— Again, if enough people mark that they are coming then we will also try to find additional entertainment for your children while they wait in line.
— We recommend that you bring a change of clothes for your little ones to play at the farm.
— We will update you if the hours are expanded.
— All the other farm activities will continue to be in full swing — so if you don't want to stand in the line, there will still be plenty to play & do that day!
— There is no additional cost outside admission for this event. ($10/adult, $12/kids and under two are free).
