Featuring Theresa Martin
Theresa Martin is a poet and song-carrier originally from San Francisco and more recently from St. Louis. This fall, she completed a midwestern biking song-tour entitled “Harvest in the Heartland: A Healing Song Bikeabout.” She believes that Song and poetry are forms of resistance to Empire and healing for the earth. Much of her music is rooted in oral tradition community singing and her major writing inspirations include Andrea Gibson, Amiri Baraka, and Diane di Prima. She hopes that her life echoes the Sufi poet Rumi’s words, “Go up on the roof at night in the city of the soul. Let everyone climb on their roofs and sing their notes! Sing loud!”
