The Oboe and Bassoon Studios at Texas State University have collaborated to produce this short chamber music concert featuring the double reed instruments of the orchestra. These small chamber ensembles are self-coached and lead by the members of the group. These musicians are learning to make independent musical decisions and rehearsal choices while taking responsibility for personnel, programming, scheduling, without the aid of a conductor that is typical in large ensembles. The students are expanding their leadership abilities and enjoying the musical camaraderie of their peers. Chamber music is often one of the most rewarding endeavors classical musicians and easily offers the most entrepreneurial outlets for professional musicians. These students are all music majors or double majors with their specialties including education, performance, composition, acoustics, and music therapy.
