The Blanton Museum of Art
200 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin, Texas 78712
Come and get inspired during a full free day at the Blanton!
Every Third Thursday we're open until 9pm too, so you can take your time between art gazing before refueling at our café with a slice of pizza & glass of wine for $5 (available after 5pm).
Our full line-up:
12:30pm-1:00pm ~ Public Tour: The Changing American Landscape
5:30-6:15pm ~ Beat the Rush: Austin Camerata
Skip the ATX traffic and experience this unique program for emerging artists. Chamber ensemble Austin Camerata will present new works written about art in the Blanton’s collection, composed by Michael Alec Rose.
7:30-8:00pm ~ Slow Looking...
Enjoy a thoughtful and relaxed 30-minute conversation about a single work of art on view at the museum. You can learn more about this unique program in Fusebox Festival's interview with our Public Programs Manager Adam Bennett here → bit.ly/2rjtaij
Drop by our Paper Vault exhibition "Illusion & Imagination: Pictorial Decorations for Architectural Spaces, 1500–1800" and
make time to see "Tongue-Cut Sparrows" by James Drake (the artist behind our 2015 exhibition "Brain Trash").
Museum admission is always free on Thursdays. On the third Thursday of each month, the museum remains open until 9 pm.
The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
