Sometimes you just need to have a good cry, and this concept is the very core and essence of Good Mourning Brunch! Each month we'll watch a film that, sure, might make you tear up, but will also have you leave our theater feeling lighter and rejuvenated to fight all the hazards of the outside world.
This month, we’re celebrating Pride with the Academy Award winning, ground breaking film MOONLIGHT. Chronicling the life of Little/Chiron/Black, we’re privy to a young man’s journey as he discovers he’s different in a world where such frivolity is not allowed. Doing his best to take care of himself and his mother, Chiron struggles with his sexuality, suppressing the only part of himself he doesn’t derive from the ...difficult circumstances all around.
Taking part in three separate vignettes, director and screenwriter Barry Jenkins depicts the struggle of growing up in a space where LGBTQ individuals aren’t just actively looked down upon but hunted. Pull on your best crying outfit as we mourn the lives of those who have no other choice but to hide who they are and celebrate those who are able to give them a voice.
We'll supply the tissues, you feel free to bring your comfort pillow and blanket. We'll also be serving a specialty food and drink menu that was made exclusively for this brunch series!
