Come out to Brew and Brew to celebrate Freehand’s 2017 anthology release. There will be drinks and food, artwork and books, and entertainment. More details as the date approaches!
This event is free and open to the public.
Freehand Arts Project is a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing the creative arts to individuals incarcerated in Texas. Each year, we compile student work from those at Travis County Correctional Complex into an anthology.
We are proud to share our 2017 edition, entitled HSB, this May -\-\ and can't wait to share all of the hard work of our students and teachers.
2017 brought visiting poets, Eileen Myles, poet etc, Ebony Stewart, and Write Bloody Publishing's Derrick Brown. Student writing composed during their workshops in addition to student artwork make up this new edition-\-\none of which would be possible without Freehand's amazing teachers, Liz Moskowitz, Bronwyn Walls, and Freehand's founder, Kelsey Shipman.
We look forward to seeing you there!!
Thanks so much to Clare Drummond for the event artwork, and to Wright Bros. Brew and Brew for the amazing space. Please contact Murphy Anne Carter for any questions/concerns/inquiries.
