Friday, August 17th — get pumped for a solid lineup from start to finish with outside & inside sets from Los Coast, Star Parks, Palo Duro, The Reputations and The Azmaris at Cheer Up Charlies!

Los Coast
Los Coast is the brainchild of Trey Privott and John Courtney and is completed by Megan Hartman on bass, Damien Llanes on drumkit, and Nat Wright on keys. Together, their music is a punchy, psych-tinged, lyrical variety of rock and soul. Los Coast formed like Voltron, and Trey happened to be the heart. He is Los Coast’s “Stax-worthy” vocal feature. To put it simply, “there’s something about Trey’s voice that resonates with you.” He was introduced first to jazz—by his uncle Hiram Bullock—but Trey’s musical enthusiasm embraces gospel, punk rock, folk, and hip-hop, among other genres, and his eclectic songwriting style reflects his catholic musical interests.

Star Parks
The project of Austin, Texas songwriter Andy Bianculli, Star Parks mixes '60s psychedelia and girl group pop with painstaking arrangements in the lineage of Lee Hazelwood, Jon Brion and Brian Wilson. The result is a set of bittersweet tracks full of melancholy and exuberance that is Don't Dwell, their debut album available on Paper Trail Records.

Palo Duro
Having signed with renowned producer/artist Danger Mouse's 30th Century label, Palo Duro – Austin singer-songwriter Michael J. Winningham, formerly of the indie rock band Gold Beach – understandably indulges in a cinematic, tightly and cleanly produced, and (mostly) hook-heavy debut LP heavily evocative of contemporary Arcade Fire. — Austin Chronicle

The Reputations
[The Reputations] work really well because it’s not just a re-hashed version of the BeeGees, there’s something contemporary about the sound, something that connects music from the past with an audience in the present. The Reputations nail it with their recent release Begging for More, the lyrics are updated to deal with modern issues and the sound is a little bit grittier, a little less clean; a choice that sounds to me like a reflection on the world we live it. — KUTX

The Azmaris
The Azmaris, a Hard Proof side project, play groovy instrumentals inspired by Ethiopian tonality and psychedelic story telling.
